Professional speaking is one of the easiest industries to enter, but one of the most difficult to achieve success. Smart speakers seek out the best practices that make the difference between a short-lived experiment and long, fruitful career. And whether you’re new to the speaking industry or a seasoned veteran, you’ve no doubt encountered many rules for success. Although often championed by well-known speakers who are themselves successful, the truth is that following some of these rules can sink your career.

How do you know which rules are worth following and which ones are holding you back?

Join Jason Kotecki, CSP, and his wife and business partner Kim, for a lively discussion on many of these so-called “rules.” In the past decade, this dynamic duo has built a successful speaking business that has grown each year. Perhaps more importantly, they’ve navigated the pitfalls common to this very demanding profession in order to create a rich and fulfilling personal life, complete with three kids under seven. It hasn’t happened by accident, and it certainly wasn’t the result of following all the rules.

Rookie speakers and experienced pros alike are guaranteed to encounter ideas that will challenge their assumptions and maybe even ruffle some feathers. You will not come away with any get-rich-quick schemes, but there’s a very good chance you’ll leave with an insight that will remove some obstacles on your road to success.

Jason Kotecki, CSP, is an artist, speaker, and author of the book, Penguins Can’t Fly +39 other Rules That Don’t Exist. Jason and his wife Kim (aka “Little Miss Details") have made it their mission in life to fight Adultitis and help people use strategies from childhood to build better lives, teams, and businesses.
